Job summary

Point Quest Group in Evanston, IL is seeking a Part-Time Teacher for the Visually Impaired to provide specialized instruction for K-12 students with visual impairments. Responsibilities include evaluating vision functions, developing IEPs, and delivering Braille and mobility instruction.

Must have a valid IL PEL with TVI endorsement and a Bachelor's degree. DOJ/FBI Background check and TB clearance are required; experience with assistive tech and Braille software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois PEL Professional Educator License with Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired Endorsement.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required.
• Proficiency in Braille reading and writing, and use of technological devices and optical aids.
• Certification or background in orientation and mobility.
• Knowledge of Braille, large print, and talking software technology.

Responsibilities

• Student Evaluation & Assessment: Use tests to assess pupils' visual functioning, communication, motor, social, self-help, academic, vocational, and cognitive skills.
• IEP Development: Create and implement IEPs with measurable goals based on assessments and learning continuums.
• Instruction & Integration: Teach braille, orientation and mobility, and use of visual aids; facilitate integration into regular education.
• Curriculum & Consultation: Develop and deliver curriculum activities aligned with objectives; provide resources to regular teachers.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a positive learning environment; monitor progress; prepare daily lesson plans.
