Behavioral Health Group (BHG) in Mobile, AL seeks a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients on their recovery journey. You will conduct counseling sessions, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care with the team.

Reporting to the Counselor Supervisor, you will help patients prepare for and maintain a drug-free life, provide emotional support, and comply with program policies and regulatory requirements. This part-time role offers meaningful work and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in the related Human Services field required.
• Behavioral health experience preferred, not required.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment with confidential information.
• Ability to work with patients and team members under stress and seek direction when needed.
• Knowledge of human behavior and rehabilitation approaches to support drug-free living.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular individual and group counseling sessions.
• Develop and revise patient treatment plans with comprehensive records.
• Orient patients to program operations and procedures.
• Make referrals and perform follow-ups as needed.
• Coordinate with community providers and other agencies.
• Provide crisis intervention and document interactions.
• Ensure adherence to schedules and regulatory requirements.
• Engage in in-service training and attend required trainings.
