Job summary

A Connecticut School District is seeking a Part-Time Structured Literacy Tutor to support literacy instruction for students in grades 3-8. Part Time - Up to 19.5 hours per week

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher

The Structured Literacy Tutor will support the delivery of target reading instruction to students in grades 3-8 using a Structured Literacy Approach — a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling do not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia.

Experience
  • Implement the principles of a structured literacy approach based on the science of reading.
  • Structured Literacy (OG, Wilson, C-SLDS)
  • Develop lesson plans in alignment with the structured literacy approach.
  • Analyze student performance data and report on student progress.
Skills

Job Description
  • Work with District Special Education Reading Liaison to provide high-quality instruction to students identified through the IEP process as requiring this level of intervention.
  • Keep detailed data and progress monitoring for IEP goals and objectives.
  • Conduct, analyze, and interpret student assessments.
  • Support structured literacy tutors with direct questions about instruction.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students, parents, and faculty members, including providing quarterly progress reports.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position of a Professional Tutor.
