Job summary

The Boston Red Sox are seeking a part-time Staff Accountant to manage the full-cycle accounts payable process for corporate entities, ensuring timely vendor invoices, reimbursements, and payments. You will work closely with the Finance & Accounting team on month-end close and cash accounting activities.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, accuracy in GL coding, and collaboration with internal departments. Previous experience with NetSuite or Esker is a plus; the position pays $30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounts payable and/or general accounting experience (part-time).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP and AP system experience (NetSuite and Esker preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, with proper GL coding and approvals.
• Match invoices to receiving docs and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.
• Prepare and process weekly check runs and ad hoc wire payments.
• Maintain vendor master data, collect W-9s, and ensure 1099 reporting compliance.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies professionally.
• Reconcile AP subledger to GL monthly.
• Review employee expense reports for policy compliance.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for monthly close (cash focus).
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to Finance leadership.
