Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Part-time Specimen Processing Technician to support the General Laboratory. The role operates on a Part-time Day Shift with 20 hours per week, 7:00am–3:30pm and alternating weekend shifts, plus 2–3 holidays per year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years applicable clinical experience working in a lab environment with specimens or equivalent college courses in the health care field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips.
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens.
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times.
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery.
