ChristianaCare is recruiting a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus. The role performs essential pre- and post-analytical functions that help ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing.

Schedule: Part-time Midnight shift Every other weekend 10:30pm - 7:00am, plus 2-3 holidays per year. Hourly pay range: $19.48 - $28.24.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of applicable clinical experience working with specimens in a laboratory environment or equivalent coursework preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Prior laboratory experience or equivalent science/healthcare coursework is required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens.
• Print and accurately affix patient identification labels to incoming specimens.
• Prioritize incoming work and ensure STAT specimens are promptly routed to the appropriate laboratory section.
• Communicate specimen priorities to testing personnel to support established turnaround times.
• Respond to inquiries from physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel.
• Support the accurate and efficient flow of specimens throughout the laboratory.

As a Specimen Processing Technician, you will:

• Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens

Education/Experience requirements:

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
