ChristianaCare in Newark is recruiting a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus. You’ll perform essential pre- and post-analytical functions to ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens.
• Print and affix patient ID labels to specimens.

• Respond to inquiries from clinicians and laboratory staff.
• Support efficient flow of specimens throughout the lab.

Join ChristianaCare and become an important part of the laboratory team supporting exceptional patient care.

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus.

In this role, you’ll perform essential pre- and post-analytical functions that help ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing.

Schedule:

Part-time Midnight shift

• Every other weekend
• 10:30pm - 7:00am
• 2-3 holidays per year

As a Specimen Processing Technician, you will:

• Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens
• Print and accurately affix patient identification labels to incoming specimens
• Prioritize incoming work and ensure STAT specimens are promptly routed to the appropriate laboratory section
• Communicate specimen priorities to testing personnel to support established turnaround times
• Respond to inquiries from physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel
• Support the accurate and efficient flow of specimens throughout the laboratory

Education/Experience requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of applicable clinical experience working with specimens in a laboratory environment or equivalent college coursework in a healthcare or science-related field preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Prior laboratory experience or equivalent science/healthcare coursework is required for consideration.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.48 - $28.24This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
