Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Software Development on a part-time basis. The role involves delivering classes, leveraging technology to support learning, and maintaining student records under established syllabi.

The position emphasizes engaging with students, adapting lesson plans, and promoting inclusive learning environments within FERPA and college guidelines. Reports to the Department/Program Chair.

Qualifications

• A qualified faculty member meets the program standard through one of five routes.
• Ability to teach Software Development (SDEV) courses as appropriate to the program.
• Documentation of relevant coursework or experience in software development field.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Utilize technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and related documentation.
• Engage with students regularly to ensure a positive learning experience.
• Promote an inclusive environment reflecting diverse student backgrounds.

Education

Master's degree or higher in software development, computer information systems, MIS, IT, CS or related field

Master's degree with 18 semester hours in related field

Master's degree with two or more of: professional certification, two years in-field employment, teaching excellence, research/publication, additional coursework beyond bachelor’s (18 sem. hrs)

Bachelor’s degree in software development, computer information systems, MIS, IT, CS or related field with relevant certifications/experience

Bachelor’s degree in software development, with documentation of two or more of: professional certification, two years IT experience, research/publication, additional coursework beyond bachelor’s (18 sem. hrs)

Earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree with documentation in two or more of: professional certification, four years IT employment, research/publication, additional coursework beyond bachelor’s (18 sem. hrs)
