Job summary

The Salvation Army in Gary, Indiana is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to provide compassionate case management and emergency assistance to individuals and families in crisis. You will collaborate with Pathway of Hope caseworkers and lead the Corps Emergency Food Pantry while maintaining client confidentiality.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field and at least one year of relevant experience; a valid driver’s license and Safe From Harm training are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
• Background checks required and reviewed
• Minimum of one year experience in case management or social services; pantry operations/ emergency assistance preferred

Responsibilities

• Interview clients to determine need
• Assess eligibility for emergency assistance and Pathway of Hope services
• Develop individualized client assistance plans
• Provide referrals to community agencies and resources
• Maintain confidentiality of client records
• Lead and maintain the Corps Emergency Food Pantry
• Conduct outreach feeding programs for community members in need
• Support Angel Tree, Christmas and Back-to-School programs
• Create and update client files in the SIMS database
• Collaborate with Pathway of Hope caseworkers for coordinated care
• Monitor and document client progress in Pathway of Hope
