Job summary

CommonSail Investment Group seeks a Maintenance Technician for part-time hours (8am-4pm, Monday-Friday) in Kalamazoo, MI. You will perform general maintenance and repair duties across multiple facilities, with outdoor work and potential weekend shifts.

Teamwork across departments is essential, and a positive attitude helps deliver excellent service. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or some college credits from a technical school; or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in apartment maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and appliance repair.
• Experience with drywall repairs and painting is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions; handle problems with several concrete variables.

Responsibilities

• Operates various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other team members.
• Identifies and reports broken equipment or uncertain conditions to the department supervisor.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and safe condition that meets safety regulations.
• Performs preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
• Maintains a positive Customer Service attitude in interactions with staff and residents.
