Job summary

Harvard Protection Services in Chicago is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional, customer-focused security and life safety services for the people and property at the assigned site.

Responsibilities include maintaining a visible presence, monitoring for suspicious activity, greeting visitors, enforcing policies, answering phones, and documenting incidents. The role requires valid security licenses and reliable transportation; prior security or related experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses (PERC Card and 20 Hour Security Training Certificate).
• Reliable communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and neat, professional appearance.
• Ability to write routine logs and incident reports.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military or customer service experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence within the assigned facility.
• Monitor environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Know the facility and customers, visitors, tenants, and guests.
• Greet individuals in a professional manner.
• Answer phones professionally.
• Control entry for authorized persons and monitor entrances/exits.
• Enforce facility policies within role limits.
• Complete required patrols on foot or by vehicle.
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and systems.
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
