Job summary

Harvard Protection Services in Chicago is seeking a Security Officer to provide professional, customer-focused security and life-safety services for people and property.

The role requires maintaining a visible presence, monitoring activity, greeting and assisting visitors, conducting patrols, and reporting incidents. Qualifications

• State or municipal security officer licenses (20-hour training) and PERC Card required.
• Reliable means of communication and transportation required.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat, professional appearance.
• Ability to write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reporting.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor and aid customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility.
• Monitor environment and detect suspicious activity.
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers and guests.
• Greet and assist visitors and staff in a professional manner.
• Answer phones professionally.
• Permit entry to authorized persons and monitor entrances/exits.
• Enforce facility policies within role limits.
• Perform patrols on foot or by vehicle.
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and systems.
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
