Job summary

Traverse City Area Public Schools Eastern Elementary School in Traverse City, MI is seeking an EA: AM Extended Day Care Program Assistant for the 2026/27 school year. The role supports children ages 3–12 with age-appropriate activities and supervision before/after school, reporting to the Extended Day Care Program Manager.

Responsibilities include care, attendance, behavior management, and collaboration with staff and families. Some first aid/CPR and professional development are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate (18+), experience working with children.
• Some Early Childhood coursework preferred.
• Must have current First Aid and CPR training or willing to obtain at next offered.
• Ready to complete up to 16 clock hours of professional development per MiLEAP licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides child care support services.
• Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff, administration and community through effective written and verbal communication.
• Plans and implements age-appropriate activities for students 3-12 years old indoors and outdoors.
• Performs attendance and other record keeping as directed.
• Maintains a clean and safe facility/playground at all times.
• Addresses behavior management for Extended Day Program participants.
• Maintains discipline and reports concerns to the Extended Day Care Program Manager.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and family records.
• Participates in staff development activities (up to 16 clock hours per year).
• Administers children’s medication and First Aid as needed and completes required documentation.
