Job summary

Responsibilities include planning menus, managing inventory, supervising staff, and maintaining sanitary conditions in both kitchen and dining areas. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Board-determined minimum experience in cafeteria food service.
• Bookkeeping/budgeting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food management, nutrition, sanitation, and related laws/policy.
• Experience scaling recipes for large quantities.
• Ability to plan work and supervise others.
• Basic bookkeeping and inventory skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy items for long periods.
• Understanding MSDS and safety guidelines.
• Ability to present information to individuals or small groups.
• Self-motivated and reliable.
• Ability to work well with students and staff.
• Excellent organizational skills and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily school meals on time per planned menu and regulatory standards.
• Maintain high safety and cleanliness in kitchen and cafeteria.
• Prepare food using uniform recipes and verify quality before serving.
• Consult with the school nurse on dietary needs and allergies.
• Store all food properly and maintain required temperatures.
• Determine quantities and serving sizes for appropriate age groups.
• Supervise kitchen staff in safe and efficient use of equipment.
• Supervise and assist in serving food.
• Oversee daily cleaning of equipment, dishes, and tables.
• Coordinate with Building Principals and custodians on sanitary conditions.
