Job summary

The Brearley School is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support two libraries (Lower School and Middle/Upper School) starting immediately. You will work with three full-time librarians and handle shelving, circulation, processing, and clerical tasks.

Qualifications include a college degree or equivalent, experience with K-12 students, and computer skills. Enrollment in a Library Science program is preferred; passion for youth literature and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience and computer skills (required).
• Experience with K-12 students or in a school.
• Enrollment in or recently graduated from an accredited Library/Information Science Master’s program (preferred).
• Genuine passion for literature for young people.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Check in and shelve library materials.
• Assist patrons with check out and questions.
• Process and catalog new materials from vendors.
• Assist with clerical duties and overdue notices.
• Help students, faculty and staff locate materials.
• Support library programs and displays.
• Maintain library spaces and supplies; troubleshoot basic tech.
