Job summary

The Harker School in San Jose, CA is seeking a part-time Library Assistant for the Lower School. This hourly position begins August 10, with regular hours Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Library Assistant will support the campus librarian and provide a range of library services in a school setting. Ideal candidates communicate effectively in English, have at least one year of library/school/bookstore experience, and possess clerical skills, with a high school diploma or

Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and others in person, by phone and email.
Minimum one-year experience in a library, school, or bookstore.
Minimum one-year experience working with groups of children.
Minimum one year of clerical experience.
High School diploma or equivalent (required).

Responsibilities

Provide instructional support and assist in preparing the library for instruction.
Create and maintain library displays and assist users in locating materials.
Monitor student behavior and contact faculty as needed regarding materials and programs.
Maintain a neat library, shelving books, and general cleanup of the space.
Process, shelve, circulate, and repair books and resources per library procedures.
