Job summary

Barnstable United Elementary School is seeking a library assistant to support daily library operations at the Upper Elementary level. The role includes overseeing circulation, supervising students, and assisting with instructional tasks in the Library Media Center.

Under the direction of the Library Media Specialist and building principal, you will organize resources, create displays, and help with cataloging while contributing to a positive learning environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Two years college education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee circulation of books, media and devices in the library.
• Actively supervise students when using the library.
• Implement lessons provided by Library Media Specialist to small groups of students.
• Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating, circulating, and using library resources.
• Assist students with instructional/academic tasks and projects in the library setting.
• Create and update library displays and bulletin boards.
• Locate and organize resources to support classroom use of library space.
• Support the social emotional needs of students through positive relationship building within the library setting.
• Record teacher and pupil requests for print and non-print purchases.
• Maintain up-to-date cataloging.
• Other duties as assigned by the building principal
