Job summary

Saddlebrook Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to support meal prep, serving, and sanitation for students and staff. The role runs 4.0 hours daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., August through May while school is in session.

Starting immediately, the position requires basic arithmetic, food safety knowledge, and strong customer service. Prior food service experience is preferred; occasional travel to other OPS sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Safety food handling is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, service, and storage of food.
• Support service excellence initiatives through proactive service.
• Follow approved cafeteria menu preparation and service protocols.
• Train in all kitchen stations to cross-cover as needed.
• Promote customer service with appealing food and friendly service.
• Monitor portion control and safe storage of supplies and food.
• Complete required reports and work with a diverse student population.
