Job summary

Omaha Public Schools Chandler View Elementary in Bellevue, Nebraska invites applications for a Kitchen Assistant (Part-Time). This role runs 5.5 hours daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., August through May when students are in session.

Starting immediately, you will help prepare and serve meals, assist with cleaning and sanitation, and provide friendly customer service to students and staff. A high school diploma and basic math skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using US currency, weights, volumes, and distances.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Safe food handling skills.
• Customer relations and service recovery skills.
• Excellent attendance and work record.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to interact with students, staff, parents, and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, service, and storage of food.
• Support service excellence and customer service initiatives.
• Follow approved cafeteria menu preparation and service timelines.
• Train across kitchen stations to cross-cover as needed.
• Monitor portion control, pricing, and safe storage of supplies and food.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
