Job summary

The GEO Group in Castle Valley, PA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting. You will perform physical assessments, assist physicians, and ensure medications are administered safely while maintaining security and confidentiality.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, supervise LPNs, and maintain clinical records in compliance with policies and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an approved program; current RN license in the state where facility is located.
• Two years of direct RN experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing, and psychiatric nursing.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and provide appropriate follow‑through.
• Ability to work with computers and the software used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Perform a complete physical assessment and medical history on detainees entering the correctional system; refer medical problems to physicians for evaluation.
• Assist physicians with sick calls and minor procedures; treat detainees within scope and refer others as needed.
• Administer medications as ordered using the formulary; apply pharmacology knowledge.
• Make observation rounds, document progress, evaluate symptoms, and report problems to management.
• Maintain security while administering medications and prevent drug hoarding and trafficking.
