Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a committed Registered Nurse with a BSN and an Illinois license to deliver patient-centered nursing care in a dynamic hospital setting.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, discharge planning, and family education while coordinating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes. ER experience and certifications are preferred, with rapid escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• BSN and IL RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• ADN accepted with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years.
• ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within 1 year for ER; TNCC for pediatric ER within 1 year.
• ACLS required for Non-Invasive Cardiology.
• Trauma Nurse Specialist and related emergency certifications listed as preferences.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status and identify care needs at admission or point of care entry.
• Organize assessment health data to be accurate, complete and accessible.
• Document diagnoses to facilitate outcome planning.
• Initiate and update the Plan of Care with age-specific considerations.
• Discuss and confirm plan of care with patient/family and health team.
• Coordinate discharge planning early with patient/family and team.
• Provide patient and family education grounded in evidence-based practice.
• Communicate and collaborate with patient/family and health team about progress and care.
• Present patient information at multidisciplinary meetings and make referrals as needed.

Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse

Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years

Pediatric Advanced Life Support TNCC within one year of hire

Autonomous Critically-Oriented Cardiology ACLS
