Job summary

About the Position

Reporting to the Parks & Recreation Director, the Part-Time Recreation Coordinator helps coordinate and support:

• Recreation programs and contract classes
• Community partnerships
• Facility rentals and events
• Public outreach and promotion
• Cultural arts and placemaking initiatives

The position also assists with developing, promoting, and evaluating recreation opportunities that activate parks and public spaces throughout Sonoma.

• Coordinating recreation programs and services

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, Event Management, Communications, Community Development, Education, or a related field.

Experience

Some experience in recreation services, community engagement, event coordination, facility operations, volunteer management, public outreach, or a related field is desirable.

License

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.

Schedule & Compensation

• 15-20 hours per week
• Schedule varies and includes occasional evenings and weekends to support recreation programming and events
• Hourly pay: $32.03-$38.93
• This is a part-time position that does not receive medical benefits. Benefits include paid holiday equivalents, 40 hours of annual sick leave, and participation in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) Deferred Compensation Plan.
