Job summary

City of Sonoma is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Coordinator to support recreation programs, events, and community partnerships. The role reports to the Parks & Recreation Director and involves coordinating activities, managing contracts, and promoting programs across Sonoma.

The ideal candidate will be organized, an excellent communicator, and able to handle multiple projects. A California driver’s license is preferred, with benefits including paid holidays, sick leave, and participation in

Qualifications

• Equivalent to an Associate’s degree with coursework in Recreation Administration, Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, Event Management, Communications, or related fields.
• Experience in recreation services, community engagement, event coordination, or related areas is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating recreation programs and services
• Supporting community events, festivals, concerts, and volunteer activities
• Assisting with facility rentals and customer service
• Developing promotional and outreach materials
• Building partnerships with schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations
• Recruiting and supporting contract instructors
• Researching community recreation needs and evaluating programs
• Maintaining program records, contracts, and reports
• Participating in long-range planning and special projects
