Job summary

La Frontera Arizona, Inc. in Benson, AZ is seeking a compassionate counselor to provide counseling, supervision, and casework services across detox, acute psychiatric care, home health, or day treatment settings.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support clients, maintain records, teach daily living skills, and respond to crises, with emphasis on trauma-informed care and coordinating with community resources.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skill in counseling individuals, families, and groups.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of case management.
• Ability to coordinate the work of others.
• Knowledge of cultural characteristics of minority groups.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and supervision of clients in individual and group settings as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain client records including evaluation, follow-up, and closure activity.
• Provide supportive counseling and training in daily living skills such as personal hygiene, nutrition, budgeting, and food preparation and purchase.
• Intervenes in crisis situations and attempts to avert potential crises.
• Observe and report nursing functions such as medication effects, nutrition, infection control, etc.
• Direct, participate, and assist clients in planning and carrying out activities, and evaluate client activities.
• Advocate for clients and family in dealing with other agencies and the public.
• Coordinate all care and services required to enhance and facilitate health wellness within trauma-informed care framework.
• Attend and participate in in-service training and staff meetings.
• May assist in client evaluations and in planning and implementing behavioral treatment plans.
• May evaluate and assess job skills and work potential.
