Job summary

Upperline Health in Munster, IN is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support physicians in a podiatry/orthopedic clinic. The role combines clinical and administrative tasks, with opportunities to learn and grow within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking history and vitals, performing basic x-ray assistance, EMR documentation (athenahealth), and coordinating care for Upperline Plus patients.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Podiatry or Orthopedic clinic experience preferred.
• X-ray experience is a plus.
• Clinical care coordination or care management experience is ideal.
• Experience assisting or providing care to geriatric patients preferred.
• Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience working in an EMR; athenahealth preferred.
• Must be an effective communicator with excellent grammar and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Place patients in exam rooms; ensure they are ready for the physician.
• Complete exam intake including history, social history, surgical history, and current illness.
• Complete vitals and documentation in the EMR (athenahealth).
• Provide patient care under the podiatric physician; take x-rays as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as restocking exam rooms and disposing of trash.
• Clean and sterilize exam and x-ray rooms after each patient visit and at end of day.
• Conduct health assessments and visits with Upperline Plus patients.
• Telephonic outreach and engagement with Upperline Plus patients for ongoing preventative care.
• Care coordination: medical records requests, order management, appointment scheduling, referrals.
• Travel to surrounding area clinics if needed.
• Other related duties as needed.
