Stormont Vail Health seeks a Phlebotomist for the Main Campus Lab in Topeka, KS. This part-time, day-shift role collects blood samples and handles orders in the electronic medical record system, ensuring proper transport and compliant, on-time results.

The position requires attention to detail, safety adherence, and patient privacy, with a focus on teamwork across clinical staff. Experience in phlebotomy and hospital settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; A certified phlebotomy program may substitute.
• Experience with phlebotomy in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and patient privacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and properly identify blood specimens by performing venipunctures and capillary punctures in all age groups.
• Access, select, release and print test orders from the EMR; transcribe outside orders as required.
• Process specimens according to procedures; prepare for transport per IATA regulations.
• Perform and report waived point of care tests; maintain quality results.
• Instruct patients on collection procedures; answer questions and provide resources.
• Follow Phlebotomist Service Standards and assist with mentoring interns.
• Maintain and monitor laboratory supply stock.
• Travel to alternate clinic locations as needed (approximately 20%).
