Job summary

Intermountain Health in Murray, UT is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees and volunteers in an ambulatory clinic setting. You will monitor activity, enforce policy, assist and direct people, respond to emergencies, and protect Intermountain property.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
• Use de-escalation strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Intervene to protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently, including using restraints when necessary.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when reporting crimes or incidents, disclose only the minimum necessary information to law enforcement.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols for safety.
• Participate in drills (infant abduction, active shooter) to prepare staff for real-life scenarios.
• Conduct respectful and safe searches of patients; search for narcotics in compliance with law.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers to mitigate risks.
• Enforce parking regulations to maintain safety and accessibility for patients.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement to conduct investigations following disclosure protocols.
