Job summary

Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a part‑time Unit Nutrition Assistant to join our Nutrition Services team. This role supports patient meals, ensures accurate diet orders, safe food handling, and great patient service during 2:00pm–6:30pm shifts.

You will work with patients, dietitians, and foodservice staff to promote optimal nutrition care and maximize patient satisfaction, processing orders, delivering trays, and maintaining HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–2 years of food service experience preferred, especially with modified diets and direct customer service.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to follow instructions in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, evaluate, and process diet orders/messages and communicate updates to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff.
• Collect patient meal selections via in-person visits or phone calls, ensuring diet orders and patient preferences are followed.
• Process meal tickets and tally sheets and deliver trays to patients according to schedule.
• Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Operate CBORD and Bedside menu entry systems accurately.
• Practice safe food handling, storage, and infection control per HACCP, TJC, and MD Health standards.
