Eye Associates of New Mexico is seeking a Part-Time Patient Services and Financial Assistance Coordinator in Santa Fe, NM. You’ll guide patients through financial options, assist with co-pay programs, and coordinate with billing and clinical teams to ensure clarity and care.

The role emphasizes organized, compassionate communication, familiarity with insurance concepts, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in healthcare financial assistance, medical billing, patient accounts, or administrative support.
• Knowledge of health insurance, including co-pays, deductibles, insurance verification, and financial assistance programs.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain financial information clearly and compassionately.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain CPSS certification within one year of hire.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with Phreesia patient intake systems.
• Experience with PODIS medication dispensing systems.

Responsibilities

• Help patients enroll in co-pay assistance programs, charitable funds, and other financial aid programs.
• Explain co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, payment options, and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Follow up on financial assistance applications, approvals, denials, and required documentation.
• Work with pharmaceutical manufacturers, charitable organizations, and third-party financial assistance programs.
• Collect and accurately process patient payments during intake.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of applications, payments, and patient communications.
• Help patients understand available payment plan options.
• Assist with front-desk check-in and scheduling based on physician plans.
