Job summary

Great River Health Systems is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical Unit in West Burlington, IA. The role supports licensed nurses by delivering basic patient care to adults and geriatric patients, with emphasis on safety, accurate documentation, and compassionate assistance with daily activities.

Responsibilities include responding to call lights, performing assessments, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of C.N.A. course (or completion within four months of hire)
• Computer experience required

Responsibilities

• Answer patients' call lights promptly and address requests.
• Perform skin assessment and report abnormal results to licensed nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Maintain clean patient rooms and changes linens as appropriate.
• Collect and label specimens (urine, feces, sputum).
• Transport patients to treatment units and assist with mobility.
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to licensed staff.
• Document activities in the medical record accurately and timely.
