Sur La Table in Walnut Creek is seeking a Chef Instructor, Pastry to lead baking classes and inspire customers with pastry expertise. You will deliver hands-on instruction, share techniques, and promote bakeware and decorating tools while upholding our service standards.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of kitchen ops experience, a culinary degree or equivalent, and a valid Food Manager certification. Availability 12–16 hours weekly with some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment.
• A degree in culinary arts is preferred; however, candidates with extensive culinary experience and demonstrated technical proficiency will be considered in lieu of formal education.
• 1-2 years of kitchen operations experience.
• Valid Food Manager Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.

Responsabilités

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational experiences.
• Deliver in-store pastry classes and drive sales of bakeware and tools.
• Explain technical pastry concepts clearly and encouragingly.
• Stay current on products and participate in training.
• Set up and breakdown of classes, prep ingredients, and clean workstations.
• Maintain inventory, sanitation, and safety compliance.
• Adhere to wage and hour laws and SOPs.
