Position Summary

This position in Parking and Transit Services is a public-facingcontact for customer service and is the first point of contact formany visitors, event guests, and visiting dignitaries from both theinternal university system and the external community coming tocampus needing parking for events and activities.
This position is responsible for controlling access to restrictedlots by primarily operating the booth at the entrance of parkinglot E, including using computer equipment, databases, software,mechanical gate controls, surveillance cameras, communicationequipment and informational signage; greeting visitors with parkingreservations to campus, allowing access to restricted parking whenappropriate, and directing visitors to alternative parkinglocations when they do not have a reservation or parking lot volumeforces overflow; collaborating with CEC and other departments andcommunicating with Parking and Transit Manager to determinepotential overflow situations and actions; and, opening up lotspace for bonus day parking for faculty, staff, and students byanalyzing daily lot reservations, determining lot availability andstatus by optimizing and compressing data, and updatingsignage.
This position assists visitors by providing general informationregarding parking for events and activities on campus; by having afamiliar knowledge of campus including building locations, parkingoptions, and parking rules and regulations; by communicatingchanges and resolving discrepancies as needed; by monitoring lotvolume and determining overflow need and activation; and bycollaborating with the Field Supervisor, Parking and TransitManager, and other university departments to provide consistent,professional, and efficient parking service.
This position must function in a hospitable and patient manner;listen attentively to visitor questions and concerns; communicateinformation clearly; resolve difficult situations independently,with empathy and good judgement; and arrive for shifts in apunctual and reliable manner. Skills necessary to perform this jobinclude, literacy, computer experience, customer service skills,mechanical aptitude, and conflict resolution skills.
