Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time chaplain to deliver holistic spiritual care to patients, families and staff across multiple sites. This role requires on-call rotations, weekend coverage, and support for end-of-life discussions in line with site policies.

You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, provide counseling, and facilitate religious rites while upholding the mission and values of Advocate Health. Eligibility for faith group endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotation per department schedule.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to address and resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Delivers wholistic ministry of spiritual care for patients, families, team members and physicians. Provides spiritual care, consultation and short-term counseling to patients, families, physicians, and team members as assigned and in accordance with site and system policies, facilitates sacramental ministries.
• Responds to codes, emergencies and/or crises. Assists families with their needs in relation to the patient’s illness so they can provide supportive care to the patient.
• Facilitates and encourages discussion and decision making related to medical-ethical dilemmas, such as termination of treatment, organ donation, do not resuscitate orders, living wills and durable powers of attorney.
• Supports and interprets the mission and values of Advocate Health in clinical and departmental responsibilities and team member engagement.
