Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid State of Washington Department of Health Food Worker’s Card required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, operate kitchen equipment, adjust recipes and use standard office equipment.
• Knowledge of food preparation methods, health codes, sanitation and nutrition requirements.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, serving, storage and disposal of food; maintain sanitary dining and kitchen areas.
• Prepare food to meet mandated nutritional and meal requirements.
• Cook and bake foods from scratch or pre-made to meet meal projections.
• Estimate food amounts and manage waste appropriately.
• Open cans, prepare vegetables, and ensure stock is accurate and safe.
• Inspect food and supplies for quantity and health compliance.
• Wash dishes and keep service areas clean and stocked.
• May lead students/volunteers and assist with year-end stock/needs.
