Job summary

ST HELENS SD 502 St. Helens High School in Oregon is seeking a part-time Cook Helper (3.75 hours per day) to assist in school kitchen operations. A Food Handler's Card is required, and the role supports food preparation and service to meet nutrition guidelines for students and staff.

The Cook Helper collaborates with the Nutrition Services Department, helps in menu implementation, and ensures sanitary, safe food handling and timely meal service in the cafeteria.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Possess basic knowledge of food preparation in large quantities.
• Possess basic knowledge of health codes and sanitation principles and nutritional requirements.
• Have or be able to obtain a Food Handler's Card
• Have or be able to obtain a Level 1 SNA Certificate

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of the menu plans for the purpose of meeting student’s mandated daily nutritional requirements.
• Participates in daily cleaning of utensils, equipment and the storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.
• Assists in maintaining proper food temperature requirements.
• Assists with estimating food preparation amounts for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste.
• Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements and minimizing waste.
