Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Part Time Night Shift Nursing Assistant to assist Registered Nurses with daily patient care in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include bathing, feeding, hygiene, vital signs, and timely documentation in the EMR.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED/HSED, BLS certification within 45 days, and state Nurse Aide registration. Excellent communication, organization, and basic computer skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion and special transferring as indicated.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs (Temperature, Pulse, Respiration), I & O (Intake and Output), daily weights, and other patient data; documents in EMR.
• Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations, concerns, and needs of patient/family.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN including room setup, orientation to room, removing linen, and proper management of patient belongings.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated; maintains competency.
• Completes various errands including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports; maintains and orders stock for nursing area; cleans equipment and work areas.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with lifting and pushing/pulling; uses proper technique and assistive devices.
• Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity and supplies (e.g., TED hose, sequential compression devices).
• Under RN direction may remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans.
• Adheres to infection prevention policies including hand hygiene and sterile/aseptic procedures.
