Job summary

Pediatrix is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to perform newborn hearing screens in hospital settings, providing education to families and ensuring timely follow-up. The role requires on-site work at Bon Secours St Mary's Hospital with daytime shifts starting around 9 am, and some weekends/holidays.

Training and annual American Academy of Audiology certification are provided. Responsibilities include data collection, screen performance, documentation, and coordination with hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current CPR certification required or must obtain upon offer.
• Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays required.

Responsibilities

• The Hearing Screen Technician (HST) performs hearing screens and provides education to parents on the relevance of hearing screens and the importance of early intervention.
• Comply with all company and facility policies and procedures including PPE and safety protocols; raise questions to HS Manager as appropriate.
• Evaluate each patient for screen readiness before performing a screen; screen only if in appropriate state to achieve reliable result.
• Collect patient data/demographics; perform the hearing screen and related services for all eligible babies each shift; ensure documentation is followed.
• Treat each screened baby and family with appropriate care during this important development milestone.
• Upload all screen results and billing/state reporting by end of each shift; reconcile stats as needed.
• Provide information to the responsible party and educate parents about the necessity of the screen and next steps.
• Notify Site Supervisor of missed and refer babies; schedule outpatient appointments for refer babies as appropriate.
