Job summary

Farmington Public Schools is seeking a Part-Time Instructional Tutor for Multilingual Learners (K-4) at West District Elementary School. The role involves 21.5 hours per week with a 180-day calendar, focusing on supporting MLs in English language development and access to the general education curriculum.

The position requires an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), strong English skills, and experience with school-age children.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Strong command of written and spoken English is required.
• Ability to build rapport with elementary students and collaborate with teachers and staff.
• Experience with school-age children preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide ML language instruction and academic support in small groups and 1:1.
• Support English language development across reading, writing, speaking, listening.
• Reinforce academic content vocabulary from ELA, science, social studies.
• Adapt and scaffold instructional materials for varying English proficiency levels.
• Implement ML instructional strategies with ML teachers.
• Foster a welcoming, culturally responsive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with ML and classroom teachers.
• Administer and score appropriate assessments under a certified teacher.
• Promote effective home-school communication and engagement.
• Prepare and maintain required documentation per the district ML plan.
• Participate in monthly professional development related to ML instruction.
