Job summary

Howell Public Schools Howell High School is seeking a Multilingual Learner Tutor (MLL Tutor) to support students with limited English proficiency, collaborate with teachers, and assist with translation and progress monitoring.

The position is 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for ten months (Aug 17, 2026 - May 28, 2027 as scheduled). In-person attendance is required, with a starting date of Aug 17, 2026.

Qualifications

• Fluent in the English language - speaking, reading, writing and listening.
• Strong understanding of the English language; including grammar, phonics, sentence structure, comprehension and speaking skills.
• Experience with a second language. Fluency preferred but not required.
• Strong one-on-one student support skills required.
• Ability to work in a team with teachers and other MLL tutors.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication/translation between parents, students and teachers, as needed.
• Assists with administering State mandated and district/building/class level assessments, including mid-term and final examinations.
• Ability to work with individual teachers to support children with limited English proficiency in the general education classroom.
• Continually progress monitor MLL students in the District.
• Participates in Kindergarten Open House, Kindergarten Registration, and/or assisting students with course scheduling at the secondary level.
