Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Nampa, Idaho is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform diagnostic tests across Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro and Specialty Chemistry, with emphasis on quality control and instrument maintenance.

You will rotate between sections, verify specimen integrity, perform various complexity testing, report results, and assist with phlebotomy and inventory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• ASCP/AMT certification or eligible within 1 year of hire date.
• Completion of medical technology training required.

Responsibilities

• Rotate in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro and Specialty Chemistry.
• Performs, records and reviews QC with corrective action when data is out of limits.
• Maintains and calibrates equipment, documents instrument performance.
• Verifies specimen labeling, integrity and suitability before testing.
• Performs low, medium and high complexity testing according to protocols.
• Reports test results and critical values to physicians per protocol.
• Prioritizes work to maximize efficiency and assists other areas as needed.
• Performs phlebotomy when required according to policies.
• Monitors supplies and ensures availability of needed items.
• Reviews work of clinical laboratory assistants and performs corrections as needed.
