Job summary

NAMPA MEDICAL CENTER, part of Saint Alphonsus Health System in partnership with Trinity Health, is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the night shift. You will perform clinical lab tests, rotate across Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry, and ensure QC, instrument maintenance, and accurate reporting.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and ASCP/AMT certification or registry eligibility, plus completion of medical technology training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• ASCP or AMT certification or registry eligibility within 1 year of hire.
• Completion of medical technology training is required.

Responsibilities

• Rotate in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Heme/Coag, Micro & Special Chemistry.
• Perform, record and review QC; take corrective action when outside limits.
• Maintain equipment and document performance; act independently when needed.
• Verify specimen labeling and suitability before testing.
• Perform low, medium and high complexity testing per protocols.
• Report results and critical results to physician/nursing staff per protocol.
• Prioritize work and assist other areas as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy when required.
• Monitor inventory and ensure supplies are available.
• Review work of assistants and perform corrective actions when required.
• Self-directed completion of tasks with accuracy and communication with oncoming shift.
