Job summary

RET Physical Therapy Specialists, a member of the Confluent Health family, is seeking a Part Time Front Desk Medical Receptionist for our Mt Vernon clinic. You will be the first voice and face for patients, handling check-ins, scheduling, and payments in a fast-paced environment.

Key duties include insurance verification, patient record updates, and coordinating referrals while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a warm, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical front desk experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and follow-up skills.
• Comfort using computers, phones, scheduling systems, EMR, email, and basic spreadsheets.
• Ability to discuss payments, scheduling expectations, and basic insurance information professionally.
• Calm, patient-centered approach with strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, professional first impression for patients, visitors, and referral sources
• Manage front desk operations including patient check-in, check-out, scheduling, insurance verification/authorization, and phone calls
• Review, schedule, and follow up on incoming referrals by gathering information, creating or updating patient records, and helping patients understand next steps
• Keep patient flow and schedules moving by confirming appointments, working waitlists, filling cancellations, and following up with patients who need future visits
• Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments accurately and professionally, including basic payment tracking or reconciliation when needed
• Protect patient privacy and uphold HIPAA standards in all front desk interactions and documentation
