Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant to blend clinical care with front desk responsibilities. You will greet and triage patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture, and assist with urgent care procedures while verifying insurance and registering patients in our EMR system.

The role requires completion of an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, and at least 1 year of insurance verification/patient registration experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived POC testing.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide clear discharge instructions and empathetic service.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, and support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
