Job summary

Indiana University Health System seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to room patients, obtain vitals, and prepare charts. You will assist with procedures, draw labs, and support registration, scheduling, and EMR maintenance in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will work under supervision, ensure orders and referrals are carried out, and may precept MA team members. A CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC cert is required with BLS. Multitasking and data entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required; other advanced life support may be required per unit/department.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Graduation from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current certification in medical assisting (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC) is required.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA and ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB validated or validation within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to master basic clinical competencies and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare exam rooms.
• Obtain vitals.
• Chart preparation.
• Assist with procedures.
• Draw labs.
• Register and schedule appointments per procedures.
• Maintain EMR files and front office tasks.
• May perform computerized physician order entry when directed.
• Precept MA team members or externs as requested by leadership.
