Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC certification preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB validation or within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction.
• Ensures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments and smooth patient flow.
• Performs general lab work and educates patients about procedures and needs.
• Handles registration and scheduling per procedures; maintains EMR files.
• May perform computerized physician order entry as directed.
• Precepts current MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership.
