Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington is seeking a Part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical operations and patient flow. You will prepare exam rooms, document vital signs, and assist with patient care under supervision.

Responsibilities include registration, scheduling, and EMR tasks in Cerner, plus front office duties. Required are an MA program or diploma, BLS, and basic medical knowledge; benefits include retirement and tuition support.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• New hires and promotions after October 5th, 2025, will require graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
• TB validation or within 6 months of hire may be required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
• Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures; knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to Master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
• Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist with clinical flow.
• Obtain and document vital signs and patient information in Cerner.
• Perform registration and scheduling activities per procedures.
• Maintain EMR files and perform general front office tasks as needed.
• May precept MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership.
