Job summary

St. John’s University in Queens is seeking a part-time Math Teacher to join the Liberty Partnerships Program.

You will provide instruction in pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry during the LPP Saturday and after-school sessions at John Adams High School or on campus. Candidates must hold a Master's Degree in Education, state certification (or college teaching experience), and have at least three years of secondary or collegiate teaching.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education.
• State certification or college teaching experience.
• Three years of teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards and Common Core.
• Ability to inspire and motivate youth.
• Deep-rooted passion in serving students and helping them achieve their goals.
• Preference given to an educator who currently serves as a full-time teacher at the target high school.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in the area of mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry).
• Collaborate with High School Liaisons and/or school personnel to design and implement academic interventions for students.
• Assist in coordinating tutorial services; conducting tutorial training; and supervising tutorial staff.
• Exhibit great classroom management skills that enable learning for all students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director.
