Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist to provide safe, high-quality imaging and patient support in a part-time role.

You will work within a collaborative imaging team, adhering to protocols, QC tasks, and patient-centered care. A radiologic tech credential with mammography certification is required, along with strong patient communication and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT-R and ARRT-M certifications, BLS.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment to clarify unclear orders and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per infection control guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, and Calibration.
• Ensure all images are labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions, and train new team members.
• Maintain timely documentation and stay current with required education.
• Communicate professionally and work well in a fast-paced team with strong anatomy and radiation safety skills.
