Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a part-time role. You will perform mammography exams and work within a collaborative radiology team to deliver safe, high-quality imaging.

The position supports a predictable schedule and balance between clinical work and life outside the hospital. This role requires ARRT credentials (Radiography and Mammography) and at least 1 year of radiologic and mammography experience in a hospital setting, with a focus on

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist and 1 year of mammography experience in a hospital.
• ARRT-R (Radiography), ARRT-M (Mammography), BLS certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders, and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas as needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per infection control guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, and others.
• Ensure all images are labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Keep the mammography suite clean; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions, and support training of new team members.
• Maintain concise, timely documentation; stay current with communications and required education.
• Communicate professionally and work well in a fast-paced team with strong anatomy, pathology, positioning, and radiation safety knowledge.
