Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a part-time Makerspace Advisor to guide customers in using Makerspace equipment, teach workshops, and develop engaging programs for Makerplace.

You will help maintain the space, stay current on maker trends, and deliver friendly, customer-focused service. Required: high school diploma, 2+ years in customer service, and enthusiasm for hands-on making.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2–3 years college coursework preferred.
• Experience in customer service and a passion for hands-on making is essential.
• Ability to explain equipment use and safety to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with Makerspace equipment, software, and tools.
• Teach one-on-one, small groups, and public workshops.
• Develop classes, project templates, and instructional materials.
• Troubleshoot equipment and maintain a welcoming Makerspace.
• Stay current on maker technologies and trends.
